Black Wall Street, The Dreamland
A musical play about the extraordinary accomplishments of those black folks who were forcibly sent to the Indian Territory, later to become the state of Oklahoma. They originally arrived there with the Native Americans (between 1830-1850) who were expelled from their homelands east of the Mississippi River, in what can only be described as an event of ethnic cleansing. The blacks that accompanied the tribe’s went their as both slaves and freedmen, if you saw the movie “Killers Of The Flower Moon” which is about the Osage nation’s experiences in Oklahoma, then this is the story of what the Black people experienced.
