The Power of Song- Sahra Gure

The Power of Song- Sahra Gure

This unique show will bring together some of London’s most exciting singer/songwriters. Together they will explore the many ways in which songs can connect us.

SAHRA is a Lewisham-based musician/vocalist of Somali/German descent. Her own music is rooted in Jazz and Soul but for this one-off performance, she is inviting singers and songwriters from different backgrounds to come and share the space with her.

“As a vocalist, I rarely get the opportunity to perform with other singers, I am looking forward to delving into the music of these amazing songwriters and exploring the ways in which we can reshape our own music together"

Alongside the performance, SAHRA will be launching her new community focused platform “Sistrum” with a free workshop for 15-18 year olds. SAHRA will lead a vocal workshop on Jun 15th from 1-3pm. Those attending the workshop will be given the opportunity to take part in the evening performance.

SAHRA has worked with Dele Sosimi, Cleveland Watkiss, SecretSundaze, Ashley Henry and more. She currently produces her own music and teaches Jazz Voice and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Her new platform “Sistrum” is all about bringing free and accessible music to the local community.
